Synopsis of SBAIC Membership Meeting – October 1, 2019
October 2019

SBAIC was honored to have, Mauricio Vera, Director, Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), USAID and his Deputy Director Kimberly Ball, and team members Teneshia Alston, Dr. Harry Parker, and Charles Aycock as our guest speakers at the Oct 1, 2019 Membership Meeting which was held at the Holland & Knight International Law Firm in Washington DC. The meeting gave SBAIC member firms a great opportunity to learn about the small business activities at USAID during FY 19 and for our members to engage with directly with the USAID OSDBU Team.

SBAIC always enjoys having the USAID OSDBU team at our membership meetings. There were over sixty (60) in-person attendees with over a dozen more online that came to hear the OSDBU team share their year’s successes and announce some new exciting events including the upcoming USAID Overseas Small Business Conference in Frankfurt Germany March 2-3, 2020. SBAIC looks forward to supporting a networking reception for this exclusive new conference.

Building on that excitement, the USAID OSDBU team has achieved exceptional percentages of small business utilization this year. They have risen to the challenge to educate and engage the missions and overseas USAID teams to include small businesses in their procurements. Mauricio and his team have traveled to almost every mission to promote small businesses and share proven success stories which have resulted in high percentage goals from most of the USAID missions as their commitment to small business utilization.

SBAIC continues to support the USAID OSDBU team as a dedicated partner. For those who did not attend the October 1st membership meeting, here is a link to the PowerPoint presentation. We appreciate USAID’s willingness to come and speak with us and want to thank our hosts, Holland and Knight for providing the beautiful meeting space. We look forward to seeing you at the USAID VISBOC October 8th 2019 at the SBAIC booth. Thank you to USAID and the VA PTAC for including us as one of the exhibitors this year!

Also, we are also thrilled to have you participate in our partnership kick off meeting on October 30th, 2019 at Tetra Tech’s offices in Courthouse/Arlington VA. Please mark your calendars so that you can learn more about the collaborative training series that the private sector will engage with USAID’s Professional Development Training Division (PDT).
