One of SRAD’s aims was to address the problems of low incomes and minimal business development opportunities for at least 25,000 farm families in southern Afghanistan. This project was implemented to assist in the business development of traders, agribusinesses, and processors for specified agriculture commodity groups in southern Afghanistan to improve the demand pull for farmers receiving direct benefits from the SRAD program. FLAG’s component was to develop a BDS training program to focus on business plan writing and financial management in order to ultimately improve the effectiveness of existing agricultural businesses and product handlers to strengthen marketing efficiency.
