The OSDBU ensures that all legislatively specified categories of small businesses in prime contracts and subcontracts are effectively utilized to the maximum extent possible. The OSDBU office is a champion of U.S. small business interests in the Department’s acquisition process and provide to the small business community training and counseling on doing business with the Department of State in order to expand the base of small business firms selling to the Department.
They provide training and counseling to their internal customers about contracting with small businesses and assist them in identifying resources that result in increased opportunities for small businesses. Their customers are the U.S. small business community, State Department personnel serving domestically and overseas, large business prime contractors and small business trade associations. They accomplish their mission through outreach, communication with their customers and teamwork.
