SBAIC hosted a Networking Reception immediately following the State Department’s 3rd Annual Overseas Small Business Conference on May 17, 2018. The conference included presentations from several State Department officials like George Price, OSDBU Director, and high-level staff members from various bureaus and offices, which were all focused on expanding small business opportunities at the State Department. In addition, USAID’s OSDBU Director Mauricio Vera, spoke about some of their priority opportunities for small business in FY2018.
Our SBAIC Chair, Carlos Rivera moderated two international panels also focused on growing small businesses globally, which included large business primes Abt Associates and Tetra Tech discussion on “Successful Small Business Subcontracting on Overseas Contracts and SBAIC small business member companies DevTech and Resonance (formerly SSG Advisors) sharing of Lessons Learned Performing Overseas Contracts.
There were also matchmaking sessions available with multiple State Department bureaus and offices as well as USAID at the conference, as well as an Exhibit Hall (and SBAIC was an exhibitor!).
The SBAIC networking reception was well attended with almost 100 conference attendees and SBAIC members who participated at Don Tito’s in Arlington VA. It was a great opportunity for SBAIC members to network with numerous internationally focused government agencies, primes, and get to know other involved SBAIC members!
We sincerely thank our sponsors, without your support the event would not have been possible!
Please mark your calendars for our next SBAIC networking reception, which will be July 11th 2018 at the City Club of Washington, directly after the 11th Annual USAID Small Business Conference. This will be our signature event of the year and you don’t want to miss it!
